Duke Duchnowski of Duke’s Decoys in Buzzards Bay displayed his carving artistry at this past weekend’s Westport Lions 3rd Annual Arts & Crafts Show held in the Westport High School Cafeteria. Linda Harrop and Diane Ponte of Westport co-chaired a committee of seven that produced this juried show of 38 featured artisans and crafters, a half dozen of them from Westport.  Linda projected proceeds of $5000 that will be used to benefit scholarships for Westport seniors in the area’s schools. “The Lions Club is very active in a variety of needs in the Westport community, most recently providing funding for protective eyewear for the girls’ high school field hockey team,” Linda said.

Door prizes, terrific food and 50 raffles capped the well-attended show. Viola Abreu of Westport won the top raffle prize of $100. “Vendors were very pleased with the show’s results,” Linda reported.

“A juried show requires each prospective exhibitor submit an application with photos,” Linda added. “Our committee was very selective in picking the entrants with an eye to product excellence, and an equal distribution of artisan and craft categories.”   We think we hit the mark, and wish to thank the Westport community for supporting this very worthwhile fundraising effort.”

The show was from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., both days. Admission was free, and door prizes, food and raffles were available each day. For more information on this show and future shows, contact Linda Harrop at dlharrop@aol.com
