Market with Alpaca shearing demonstration, and Dan the Pickle Man! Local weaver
Sharon Owens will be featured in the second to last Westport Farmer’s Market;
the artisan will hold a basket making class – reservations required. The weather has
been gorgeous for thirteen of the fourteen weeks of this season’s Westport
Farmers Market, just as the bounty of local fruits and vegetables has been
throughout the summer. This weekend
marks the last official weekend of the summer, and the colors of the market
are changing along with the foliage. Acorn squash,
butternut and pumpkins are starting to show up in the farmers’ displays. But there is no shortage of summer
favorites, with tomatoes, peppers, onions, sweet corn and eggplant at their
peak of sweetness and flavor. This weekend will
feature a basket making class with artisan Sharon Owens. Those interested in
participating in the class should register ahead of time by calling 508.678.3663,
or at shabaskets448@comcast.net. A $65 fee covers all materials for the
class and the lovely basket that each participant will take home. The market officially ends in two weeks on
September 27, but the Trustees of Reservations will be hosting its sixth
annual Harvest Festival at Town Farm on October 18th, with one last farmers
market as one of its many attractions. Visitors are
invited to walk the beautiful grounds of the Westport Town Farm while
attending the Farmers Market. The Westport
Farmers Market takes place each Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Westport Town
Farm is located at 830 Drift Road, Westport, Massachusetts. For more information please call the

back the brewskis, and the sweet
sound and taste of bluegrass and BBQ! EverythingWestport.com Thursday,
September 04, 2014 Biker
chicks and their rides, bands and their blues, knocking back the brewskis, and the sweet sound and taste of bluegrass and
BBQ! It’s
all good, and it’s all about the cash. And
as the 21st Westport Rock, Rhythm and Blues Festival prepares to get
underway, hopefully it will deliver a lot of that cash to A Wish Come True Foundation. “We
granted over 50 wishes thanks to Frankie Ray,” Foundation founder Rosemary Bowers said. “It’s all about the
kids.” And
the generosity goes deep in this crowd. Long
time RRBF support Tony Mello, winner of the 2012 50/50 raffle, promptly gave
the $255 right back to A Wish Come True. It’s
all about the cash for the kids.
